Cash App Pay Integration

Accept Cash App payments with automatic confirmation: the buyer pays from their Cash App on the hosted Square checkout page and the order completes by itself. US sellers, USD checkouts.

What is Cash App Pay Integration?#

Cash App Pay integration creates a Square payment link at checkout and redirects the buyer to the hosted square.link page, where they pay with Cash App (or card). The payment is detected and confirmed automatically - no manual order confirmation.

  • Hosted page: Square owns the checkout page and the Cash App handoff - no SDK on your site, nothing to build
  • Automatic confirmation: the order completes itself via the Square webhook plus a status poll
  • Non-custodial: funds settle to your own Square account - the platform never touches them
  • USD only: the rail appears on USD-denominated checkouts (US sellers)
  • Already on Stripe? Cash App Pay is also available through your Stripe dashboard - see Stripe

Setup#

  1. Create a free account at squareup.com (US) and open its developer dashboard to create an app with the ORDERS_READ, ORDERS_WRITE and PAYMENTS_WRITE scopes.
  2. Copy the app’s personal access token (it never expires) and your location ID (Developer Dashboard → Locations, or a GET /v2/locations call).
  3. In Square: Settings → Checkout → Payment methods, make sure Cash App is accepted.
  4. In Settings → Cash App Pay, paste the Location ID and Access token, and toggle the rail on.
  5. Optional but recommended: in your Square Developer Dashboard add a webhook subscription for the payment.updated event pointing at https://pay.u.cash/cashapp.php (use your platform’s own /payment/cashapp.php?cloud=... address if you run a cloud tenant), then paste its signature key to enable x-square-hmacsha256-signature verification.

The Sandbox toggle switches API calls to Square’s sandbox environment for testing with your sandbox credentials.

Manual fallback#

The manual Cash App bank rail ($Cashtag, confirmed with Mark as Paid) stays available separately under Bank Payments for merchants without a Square account.
